Whether you’re decorating for trick-or-treaters, a party monster mash, or just yourself and your vampire clan,  here are a couple inexpensive and easy to make Halloween decorations to add some spooktastic fun to All Hallows’ Eve this year.

The Shadow Slasher:

I started with a big cardboard box and opened it along the seams.  I had a second pair of hands help trace the outline of my body as I lay on the cardboard. Then using a utility (exacto) knife I cut out the traced body shape. Once I had my shadow slasher cut out, I taped a plastic knife prop to its hand.  You don’t need a toy knife to tape to the cardboard though, while tracing your body, just trace the outline of a knife in your hand onto the cardboard as well.

Display the Shadow Slasher cut-out in a window or behind a shower curtain in the bathroom to scare party guests.

Attack of the Crows:

Add a little Hitchcock whimsy to your decorations with a murder of crows.  I love these paper crows, they mix so well with other decorations and they’re simple to make.  If you own a cricut machine your set, otherwise all you have to do is sketch and cut out a stencil.

Then use your stencil on black, preferably card-stock thick, paper to quickly replicate your crows. You might want a few different stencils to add some variety to the crows.  All that’s left is to cut them out and stick them up.  Tip:  I’d use an exacto knife for the eyes, but a hole punch would also work and be fast and easy.
